Growing up in the 70's we all thought that evel kneivel was the shit. I remember being like 7 or 8 years old and tuning into wide world of sports and hoping that Evel would jump something that day. And the coolest part of his jumps were when he crashed. Man, he brings back some of my earliest memories.

I saw that just a little while ago. I was just reading the story about him in Maxim last night.. That's too bad like some people here I grew up watching him. It's funny because of all the jumps he did they only reply the ones where he munched it. From one biker to another R.I.P brother.

anyone who tries to jump the Snake River canyon in a skyrocket has my respect as a madman. This guy personified 'no guts no glory'.

I remember watching it live on TV man. It was like 1975 or 76. I was living in Richland washington at the time and it was a Saturday morning and the TV coverage started about 2 hours before the jump. All my friends and I were glued to the TV set as he went through endless prepairations for that jump. His chute opened up early and he didnt make it over. Instead his rocket landed at the bottom of the gorge.

I was told last night that he blamed the enginers for sabotaging his equipment and causing the chute to open early. I loved Evel as a kid. I miss my Evel Kneivel doll and motorcycle, the one you reved up on the yellow plastic thing and it shot across the room. Best toy ever.

Jenn, your right, that was the best toy ever. I had maybe 2 or 3 of those because i always ended up breaking them. Man, they just dont make toys like they did back in the 70's anymore. Everything sucks now..too politically correct. and the cartoons suck ass now too. The Superfriends, the road runner show, and the laugh olympics rocked man. Those days are way over.
